Puma - Sport for change

Fondazione Milan and Puma want to take you to a trip around the world to tell the story of six social projects in Milan, Melbourne, Nairobi, New York, Kolkata and Rio de Jainero. The common goal is simple: sport should be a tool for inclusion and education.

“From Milan to the world” is an international contest, calling on the millions of Milan fans to vote on a social project, which Fondazione Milan will support with a donation of €50,000.

We worked on this animation video starting from some very important pillars: love for sports, football, inclusion, the world, the joy of playing together.

Character Development

With a minimal approach to illustration, we used different shapes and colors to diversify the characters, keeping them consistent in every scene. All the characters were animated frame by frame, so we opted for a simple yet effective style.

Animation

It’s all about the football movement! Being the main character, the ball is a real trait d’union between the different cities and the kids playing with it, in an ideal circle.

In order to mimic the fluid movements of the football players, we used frame by frame animation, mixed technique and just a tiny bit of AE.

Cities and background

We worked on clean and simple backgrounds, but we wanted Milan, Melbourne, Nairobi, New York, Kolkata and Rio de Jainero to be very recognizable through their most famous buildings and attractions.

Can you spot both the Statue of Liberty and New York’s High Line?

The earthy tones combined with red and black, Milan’s infamous colors, the create a nice contrast.
