The client, "Diwani Walitharage" is a Sri Lankan culinary sensation, who specializes in presenting authentic Sri Lankan flavours and cooking techniques to the global community with an innovative approach. The goal was to design a logo and the stratergy to symbolize the Sri Lankan culinary identity in a modern and talkative way. Diwani Culinario branding identity design process was intended to provide an eye catching, unique theme in a playful,yet in a professional outlook. First,several food products which had significant physical shapes featured in "DIwani Culinario" - official instagram profile was chosen for doodling.Doodles carry a main role throughout the design process to create a unique identity. The primary colour was chosen as purple.Purple could be identified as a prominent colour used by Diwani more often.The colour is often associated with royalty, luxury, nobility, pride, wisdom, power & magic.It is one of the most commonly used colours in Diwani Culinario’s existing food portfolio.They were prominent,soothing and pleasing. Purple was selected as the main symbolic colour to feature in desserts, drinks and assorted foods, at the same time representing Diwani’s effort to embrace traditional Sri Lankan identity (Ex : Nil Manel) Green was selected as the main background colour to feature in strong, flavourful dishes which use heavy spices. The main symbol was inspired by Diwani’s significant plating style, which represents a subtle style of rounded formations It was also inspired by the petal formation of Nil Manel. Font was selected as Google Montserrat, which is a modern professional design font with a strong identity, which suits the purpose deliberately.
