ART DECO Theatre Binoculars - 3D Object Design

Art Deco Theatre Binoculars
A pair of 3D Art Deco theatre binoculars, inspired by the architecture of the 1920s. The Art Deco movement saw the rise of intricate geometric designs, paired with bold curves and fine metallic detail. Inspired by the theatre architecture of the time, these opera glasses showcase the movement, complexity, and symmetry of this opulent design era.

This design seeks to undermine the form of traditional binoculars, with flaired semi-circular layers, reminiscent of the sunburst motif, peeling away from the body, and the previously rigid bridge hinge adapted into deliberate streamlined curves. Dark red embellishments that wrap around the leather handle mimic the fluidity of theatre curtains.

Bold and rich colours accentuated with finer metallic detail give testament to both the wealth and sophistication of the upper class, as well as a hint of youthfulness, liberation, and rising rebellion of the 1920s. Embraced by warm, atmospheric lighting, these final renders below capture the quiet and buzzing state of anticipation before the excitement of the show.
