The brief was to produce a quote in hand-rendered typography, using serif, sans serif and script fonts. This was then to be applied to an appropriate photograph and submitted to Joshua Phillips.

 

I decided to go for a quote that related to my design practices, so that it reflected the typography.

When it came to choosing a relevant photograph, I looked through a variety of old photos of factory workers and miners. After playing around with various photos, I chose the following image, which was then altered on Photoshop to produce a Duotone effect.

 

I also traced over the lettering using the pen tool on Illustrator so that it was easier to use on top of a photograph.
