About the exhibition
Korean creatives of New York came together in hopes to reveal and remember what has been one of the most painful and events of history for Korea: Comfort Women.
During the World War II, Many of Korean young girls nextdoor were dragged in to war fields to serve as Comfort Ladies for Japanese Military, and the girls were raped, abused, and tortured until death. This is a very rare case of one government making a organisation of sex slaves consisting of average ladies from different nation.
Only few of these women are still with us today, but we must not forget their pain and sufferings. 'Forever our Sisters' hopes to remind the present world that these beautiful women were once our beloved sisters and daughters of Korea.

Process
I took a front view of the statue of a comfort woman and used Stained Glass filter in Photoshop.  And then I changed the colors similar to rose of sharon and printed it out.
I did flower origami with different sizes of papers and glued them according to colors.
Title: Endless Flowers
Size: 24”W x 48”H
Medium: Wood panel and Traditional Korean papers

Description: This piece is inspired by the moment when the comfort women were trying to keep their hope during their suffering and I wanted to express them as “Endless Flowers.”  These small paper flowers inspired by rose of sharon (the national flower of Korea) create the statue of a comfort woman.
This event was held in Chashama in NY.

Thank you! :)
