Earlier this year, The Sportsmen’s Alliance, an organization whose advocacy is to advance America’s conservation programs, released an analysis that detailed the impact of hunting and shooting on the nation’s economy. The report has quantified the contribution of these outdoor activities up to the congressional district level of each state.

According to the report, hunting and shooting added $149 billion to the national economy in 2020, thereby creating close to 970,000 jobs. These jobs have translated to $45 billion in income and wages.

Hunting and shooting have an immense impact on the state economies as well. Some of the key highlights of the report included the collection of state and local taxes. New York collected $265 million in state and local taxes from hunters and shooters, and California collected $154 million.
