Abstracting a Font : From an Artist's Lecture
I rcently completed a small art lecture for painters and designers interested in learning the process of abstract distillation. The attempt was to show the audience how any object can be distilled into a beautiful and simple set of lines and colour no matter how complex the original form. The example below is my style and take on abstracting a particular Serif font into something simple and far more modern than what the serifs suggest. Many designers see serif fonts as dated or classic and this was a method of modernising the type into simple abstraction.
