This athletic facility is sited next to the ancient Temple of Diana in Merida, Spain. The facility includes a fitness center, outdoor pool, a wellness spa, and a community space. Water is a focus of the project and mediates between the building and the ancient temple. In addition, it provides passive cooling for the outdoor public areas surrounding the temple, and acts as a reflecting pool for a new viewing expereince of the ancient architecture. All programmatic spaces are situated with views out onto the temple and the pools.
