About this work
These square prints are part of an ongoing process to generate procedural structures for my final year project: an experimental animated visual music film where the continual growth of a cube structure in space becomes the main focus.

During the course of my research for the film, I found myself to be strongly attracted towards a procedural method of thinking, and increasingly becoming more open to the idea of generative art and parametric modeling. The general idea of how something so beautiful yet so complex in form, could be achieved from a very simple geometric shape, peaked my interest in exploring this further in my film.

On the surface, a cube appears to be very much a self-contained structure, made up of lines and planes. This basic blueprint becomes an effective catalyst in spurring the continual explorations of the various possible forms of “cubic superstructures” (i.e. complex volumetric forms which base their genesis on the extension and repetition of any or all parts of a basic cube structure). With that in mind, each of the superstructures in the prints continually echoes the geometric properties and visual forms of the basic modular unit involved.

The film is currently in production and it will near completion by July this year
The first set of three prints below were created with the dimensions 24 x 24 in. at 300dpi.
The following three prints below were created with the dimensions 33 x 33 in. at 300dpi.
