Kostroma Museum-Reserve

The Kostroma State Historical-Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve is a museum complex comprising a number of museums featuring local history, arts, crafts, weapons, archeology, clothes, etc.

The Museum-Reserve's current logo represents the building of one of its main museums which is basically an art gallery. It dates back to 1913 and was built in the so-called Russian Revival style to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty. I've attempted at redesigning their logo and came up with some branding ideas as well.

The Museum's full name is heavily bureaucratic, so it's not surprising that a shorter name Kostroma Museum-Reserve or Kostromskoy Muzey-Zapovednik is quite common, so the KMZ abbreviation can be taken for the logo mark. My logo is also inspired by the structure of the museum building and reflects its symmetry. The three letters make up the ionic form of the building.

I made some posters featuring the museum's most famous works of art like a painting by the famous Russian artist Boris Kustodiev and a picture by the locally well-known Efim Chestnyakov. Petrovsky clay whistle toy is a traditional folk handicraft spread in the Kostroma region.
