"O futuro é o presente sem tempo"
Museu Arte Contemporanea Charters de Almeida.
Interior and Communication Design Project .

The project "O futuro é o presente sem tempo" is an exhibition design project, developed during my Erasmus Exchange in Portugal. The museum is going to be located in Abrantes, a small city in the inner part of the country. At the time of the project, the museum was under construction, and the opening was planned for September 2023. We, as students, have to develop individual solutions for all aspects of the museum, from the museography to the graphics, the digital part to the details of the supports, to the lighting design.

The main part of the interior design was related to the path design. The space in which you set the sculptures can change a lot the impression you have of them. I  divided based on the artist's life period. The first ones are made of bronze and much more organic, the second ones are geometrical.

During his life, Charters de Almeida had a big artistic crisis, He was searching for a different kind of art, more open and democratic. That period lasted for ten years. I wanted the visitor to feel the crisis as the artist, so I decided that the third room (which is the middle one) will have nothing inside, just darkness. So the visitor will feel lost, as the artist in that period.

In the second part of the exhibition, I worked with the concept of layers and planes that often comes with the concepts followed by the artist.
In front of each sculpture I put a panel, so four panels in total.
Those elements create the sense of the space and the perspectives, simulating the windows and the doors to which the sculptures refer.

The logo is an essential part of every museum. I designed the logo trying to create something linear, but original. And that can be recognize as unique and special. I used the letter of the acronymous, fitting them in a squared shape.
I linked the aesthetics also with the style of the sculptures of the second period, and with the shape of the building of the museum.

Besides the interior design, I explored the graphics and the digital part of the project.
Following the idea of the exhibition, I thought about a simple effective and linear website.
