The Market-Stall
this project is part of ichessen.de
With our increasing ecological awareness the question arises of how to give consumers the opportunity to understand the impact of their daily grocery shopping. The installation displays the ecological footprint of a purchase decision, using as an example the choice between three commercial potatoes.
By placing your chosen potato on the interactive screen, information is displayed visually to inform you of the amount of power and fuel consumed through its production. The information displayed is specific to the month it is purchased in and can be compared through moving the potato across the screen. The objective is to communicate hard to find information with consumers. One food item was used to highlight the complex issues involved with making an informed choice around responsible consumption. The most important aspect of this task was the usability. It was designed to display the information effectively and easily.
Flavia Resch made the concept, screendesign and built the stall.

My part was designing the Interaction and the technical implementation in Processing and TUIO.
