In “What we left behind”, the sculpture intends to represent our journey through life, where the body walks toward the unknown, leaving its past behind in form of foodprints. The execution started with digital modelling of the body and a simplification using Slicer software to convert the solid into stacked panels. The choice of cardboard as a material for the artwork was due to its ephemeral characteristic. Being perishable, cardboard translates the impermanent state of our bodies and our lives, marching fragile and defenceless in time and space.
