When you’re physically hurt, you have to heal. You have the bone casted, they sew up your injuries, and you rest.

But what do you do when you’re mentally hurt?

There aren’t bandaids for your brain. You can’t cast your internal wounds. You can rest, and the world scoffs because you’re not visibly unwell. But these injuries are more debilitating than the physical ones that society considers more valid.

Why?

Why do we not acknowledge mental well-being as important, if not more important, than physical well-being? Why do we not provide education on how to maintain ourselves in this way like we encourage healthy eating and exercise? How do we know the signs of a cold? We’ve learned. Did we learn the signs of depression? Anxiety? ADHD?

Just something to think about.
