A series of photos inspired by catch phrases, idioms, and random sayings that I have heard over a number of years.

Each image is a literal interpretation of the various expressions, such as “Cat got your tongue?” and “An eye for an eye”. I thought it would be interesting to translate the idioms as they are given at face value – not as an analysis for what they actually mean. In many instances, the images are humorous as a result of the sheer absurdity of the expressions, which makes for some intriguing photos. As well, I chose to shoot the photographs in black and white in order to unify the whole series.
