The Malachite butterfly is so named after the bright green mineral. It is native to Central America, but some populations have migrated to North America including Texas and Florida. Butterflies are not only beautiful and diverse, but essential pollinators in a healthy ecosystem.

This brown and green beauty lives at the Spring Preserve in Las Vegas. It’s butterfly habitat is a shining example of conservation and education through exposing the public to these animals first-hand.
