Internally, within Veterans Affairs, increase and sustain awareness of VA’s I CARE program as a unifying set of core values that will guide and influence the behavior of all employees of the VA workforce in the care of Veterans, their families, and survivors. To prompt stakeholders at the local level to implement I CARE program materials, tools, and guidance designed to inculcate the core values into every day thinking and behaviors. In addition, drive employees to engage in I CARE activities and campaigns, emulate the Core Values and Characteristics in their behaviors, and recognize the good examples they display and observe.
From an external view, create awareness of VA’s commitment to a set of unified cultural values, created to guide how VA performs its core mission, shapes strategy, and guides all decisions and behaviors at VA, as represented by the I CARE Program and its successes.
