Molotov Hot Sauce

I love hot sauce but I love their labels even more. There is a lot of room to be funny, creative, vulgar and bold. The label designs include lots of culture, horror, silly words, symbolism; and the color palettes are often, but not always, warm colors. I decided to design my own hot sauce: Molotov hot sauce

I put quite some time into developing this style. I took inspiration from my background in graffiti since I didn't see much of this style in other hot sauce labels. I used three different fonts for this. Don Graffiti - Urban Starblues - Nostress Graffiti. I had to work quite a bit to make them gel into a good shape. The outcome was a clean, easy-to-read, yet wild, playful and eye-catching design which I am very happy with.

Now I needed to add a design to the name. I played around with loads of ideas, one of them included a screaming young fellow sitting on the toilet, again, always alluding to how hot the sauce is. I finally went with something more mainstream:
I decided to go for the broader audience. The simplicity of the layout, the playfulness of the screaming man and flames at the bottom suggesting that the sauce is flaming hot. I am really happy with this design.

I also love the versatility of my label design. Only a simple swap of color can indicate to the customer what type of chili the sauce is made from.
