BIOSIS
Biosis is a healthcare service composed of an application and a platform, serving as a mediator between patients and doctors in all outpatient settings in Switzerland. The main goal of Biosis is to engage patients in the antibiotic prescription process during consultation at the doctor’s, and to raise awareness on antimicrobial resistance.
Research
To better understand the main goal of this project, we started researching antibiotics usage, their benefits and risks, and antimicrobial resistance. As we found out that the latter one is related to several factors with overuse being the main one, we continued our research by conducting interviews with health workers and patients in Switzerland.
We explored the ways of antibiotic prescription process of general practitioners’, the type of information provided to patients, and how doctors, nurses, pharmacists and patients relate in the behavioural chain around antibiotic use.
Therefore, we worked towards a solution that was going to serve as an intermediary between patients and doctors, with the aim of enhancing the communication between these two.

OUR Solution
Both the Biosis application which is designed for patients, and the Biosis platform designed for doctors are intelligent services that use historical and real-time data from users' interactions. The interaction involves active user input through writing/typing and selecting. The interface of both services highlights the most important features, guides users through, suggests what to do next, resulting in necessary actions.
The application
Data import
Patient preferences
Quality symptoms input

THE PLATFORM

User experience
From the viewpoint of functions, both the Biosis app and platform are easy to use, as the interaction is common to the existing health services, and the information is given in simple and understandable terms. Based on these interactions, the data input and the existing one, Biosis makes analysis, predictions and suggestions by delivering personalized and adaptive user experiences. Biosis is also considered as an integrated service since the data from the application and platform is interchangeable.
