Smart Water Meter

Smart Water Meter
The brief background of this project starts with a problem statement presented to my team during our Specialised Engineering Project in my 2nd year of University.

The tracking of water usage in low income households is only available in the water meter placed at the outside of a HDB flat. Households do not have access to water usage data of individual appliances and could not check usage at any specific time. With a device that is able to simultaneously track water usage at key water points, households are able to receive key insights on how to save water, and money by optimising their water usage.
Identifying, the use of batteries, and an Arduino to collect data from a water meter, a waterproof housing has to accommodate all components while also not be intrusive to the household's day-to-day activities.
The very first testing done using a water pump and the water meter in a tub of water to collect flow rate data.
2 Stages of testing done - first in groupmate's home, the next in the public toilet of SIT dover campus
Professor Steven Tay (supervisor of the Smart Water Meter project) giving a presentation in SIT's CLASIC committee's first year anniversary showcase
Project was subsequently funded by CLASIC to further implement Smart Water Meters into low income households for collection and analysis of water usage. This data will be then given to household after analysis to aid them in saving water
