Introduction 
Steel is an alloy made up of carbon and iron with a few amount of manganese, silicon, phosphorus, sulphur and oxygen which is helps to improve the strength and resistance. Its durability, strength and flexibility helps to design the buildings and homes effectively.

TMT bars, it means Thermo-mechanically Treated bars. TMT Bars are high strength bars having rough and tough outer layers or outer core and soft inner layers or inner core.

 Fe-415D,500D,550D,600, Fe denotes Iron and 415,500,550,600 stands for the minimum yield stress in N/mm2 and the letter D denotes bars that have higher values of ductility. Every grads mainly having a different tensile strength, yield stress and ductility.
Tensile Strength – The resistance of steel to break under tensile tension. The minimum Tensile Strength  is 500 N/mm2 for Fe 415D grade, Fe 500D is 565 N/mm2,Fe 550D is 600 N/mm2 and  Fe 600 is 660 N/mm2.
Yield stress – Transition from elastic to plastic behavior, is the minimum stress at which a solid will undergo permanent deformation without a significant increase in the load or external force. Yield stress for Fe 415D is 415 N/mm2,Fe 500D is 500 N/mm2, Fe 550D is 550 N/mm2 and Fe 600 is 600 N/mm2.
Ductility- it  is the ability of a material to be  plastically deformed without fracture. Ductility for Fe 415D is 14.5%, Fe 500D is 16%, Fe 550D is 18% and Fe 600 is 10%.
