I had the honor to work on a new game in one of Gameloft’s most popular franchise: Gangstar. As a UI Designer my main goal was to create an interface that guides the player as he progresses through the world while keeping him focused on the game.
In-Game Menus
Open World Games have, by nature, an extended menu system. To simplify the system for the player, I divided it into several main templates. This also alleviated the programmers' workload.
Visual
I wanted to avoid the gangster and casino clichés. Instead, I recreated the well-recognized "Vegas neon lights" look.
Mission Givers
In order to present mission givers as playing card icons, I had to stylize the original concept art.
Map
The Map is one of the key screens of the game. It allows the player to start a new mission in two clicks. The Map and the Start Mission Screen share a similar layout, showing objectives on the right.
Tattoo
Tattoo is the player's reward for enthusiasm. I designed over 50 of these badges for a variety of challenges.
Options
The basic setting of the options screen includes: Sound, Controls and Game Settings.
Player's progress
This screen allows the player to see all the information on his game progression at a glance.
