East Nusa Tenggara (Indonesian: Nusa Tenggara Timur – NTT) is the southernmost province of Indonesia. It comprises the eastern portion of the Lesser Sunda Islands, facing the Indian Ocean in the south and the Flores Sea in the north. It consists of more than 500 islands, with the largest ones being Sumba, Flores, and the western part of Timor. The latter shares a land border with the separate nation of East Timor. The province is subdivided into twenty-one regencies and the regency-level city of Kupang, which is the capital and largest city (wikipedia, 2022).
At the beginning of 2018, I was in Maronggela for a college team project. There is no such view in the lowlands. I have to climb to the top of the hill. Since it was the rainy season, all the grass was tall and thick. There are no trees or plants, only grass. This limestone or Mediterranean soil is the result of limestone weathering. Since this land is formed from limestone soil, we can conclude that it is not fertile and cannot be planted with crops that require large amounts of water. The characteristics of limestone soil are derived from limestone, which is low in nutrients and low in fertility.
