ISTD Competition Brief to create a publication that explains everything about one subject. My subject was love and I decided to focus in on the science of it looking to the biology, psychology and philosophy of it for my body copy. The book is broken into chapters with diagrams I made and a simple layout inspired by 1970's school textbooks, this also provided some basic visuals such as using the typefaces Futura and Times New Roman and the more abstract pattern on the covers.
Taking inspiration from the quote "love is an abstract noun" I decided to focus on abstract diagrams and 3D for my main visuals. My chemical diagrams inside the book where created using a basic cube net which I then consutrcted into chemical formulas. Simiarly on the front I created a 3D repeat pattern of each letter to act as the four different covers. As I had to four covers to work with I included 3 extra subjects to my series; The Politics, The Writing and The Technology of Love.
I risographed the four covers in fluorescent pink as well as having a fluorescent pink end paper.
