This project was a self preservation project. I made 14 diaries to record two weeks of work experience and I recorded everything as it happened with exact times included.
Because I really struggled with the work experience I wasnt sure how to present the information in these diaries in a way i'd be happy for people to read. I decided to write up all the text in the diaries and divide them up by entries I wouldnt mind people reading and entries I wouldnt want people to read. I then put my entries into a hardback book but laser cut out the sections I didnt want people to read. On the reverse side of the book I did the same but lasercut out what I didnt mind people reading and left in what I didnt want them to see originally. The full two weeks is in the book but out of context and divided up, its difficult to put it all together.
The title of Our Side/Their Side comes form a bit of grafitti I saw on the pavement everyday on my walk to work experience. I like the detachment from me the title has but still presents the two sides, 'our side' is what I didnt want people to see, and 'their side' is what people could read.
At the end of the project I went through the 14 diaries i'd made and blacked out all the entries so no one can read them.
