Venice Carnival 2014: the rubbish of the past carnivals

Sunday afternoon I said to myselfe: "Let's go to see some carnival masks at San Marco square and take some pics of wonderfull costumes in a sunny day". So I took my gear and went there. I started to take some pics ...
... but something weird happened after the first shots ...  the place was full of people whit cameras, I diden't see masks but only groop of people around them. When I was a little boy I remember the place full of mask, boys, girls, men and women of all kinds and eges, but to day i saw photogrephers, pardon, people taking photos. So I stopped looking for mask and start to take photos of people taking photos of masks.
Maybe nowadays the carnival in Venice is people and people looking for wonderfull memories of this peculiar holiday. They fight for a shot, pull and cry to the poor masks for a photo. Too much people with a camera trying to see what this big city party was, without enjoying the party but only look at that.
At the end all this looks like play with the rubbish of the past carnivals and forghet the memory of Venice Carnival.
I'll go out in to the nights of Thursday and Mardi Grass, I hope to find some old carnival there ... stay tuned
