Before and after restoration:
Initial state:
The original stretcher frame was lost. The canvas had strong alterations and paint surface had various craquelure. The paint surface had dirt and yellowed varnish on it. During previous repair, some overpaints were applied to mitigate and conceal the damages.
Done:
The back side was cleaned of dirt, alteration was fixed. Edges of the canvas were cleaned and lined. The canvas was stretched on the new stretcher frame.
Paint surface was consolidated, cleaned of dirt and yellowed varnish. The painting has been varnished and retouched.
