The Rovers Merch Concept

The project was created during the workshop "Merchandise for Starmus Festival" in Tumo Center for Creative technologies. Starmus is a festival that combines science, space, art and music to make science more accessible to the general public. This year the theme is 50 Years on Mars.
My idea was to reimagine the Mars rovers as a music band. Due to the rovers’ very utilitarian look, I chose the aesthetics of industrial bands such as Nine Inch Nails.
This is the main illustration that I have used on t-shirt, poster and tote bag designs, as well as creating pins and patches with the logo.
This is a design for an album released by The Rovers. The background is an ice rink on Mars, with the logo warped to follow its shape.
This is a set that emulates other bands’ tour merchandise. On the front of the shirt there are “portraits” of the rovers, however instead of tour dates on the back it is a list of the dates when each rover landed on Mars.
This set also includes button badges featuring each of the members.
