Pharmacy Passport

App Design
Pharmacy Passport
is a visual tool to help non-English speaking patients access their local medical services and ensure safe consumption of medication in the UK.

Providing safe medical services for all people beyond the boundary of languages, I created a visual-support system with pictograms to visualise dosage.

With this system, patients are given their passport alongside their medicine at the pharmacy. The passport displays clear pictograms depicting vital information such as dosage amounts and timings, medicine type and potential side effects. A label is attached to the medication packaging as well to avoid misuse when taking it. If the patients are smart phone users, then the passport app enables them to scan a QR barcode to view their prescription and instantly access detailed information about it. Patients are able to show pharmacists their passport to display their medicine logs and possible side effects they've had to aid prescription alterations in the future, allowing smoother and more effective communication for both the patients and the pharmacy.

As we have already had standardized road signs throughout the world, there should be a common visual language in the medical industry as well since both of them could cause life-threatening problems. I hope this project could be the beginning of future experimentations for this issue.
