Astrobiology: study of the origins, evolution, distribution, and future of life in the universe
The Greek terms /bios/ meaning /life/ and /logos/ meaning /study/ are used to define biology, which is the science of life and living things. Bacteria, plants, and fungus are all examples of organisms that are made up of one or more cells. To raise your scores, use our india assignment help for all of your academic needs. The study of molecular processes in cells, the categorization and behavior of creatures, how species change, and the interplay of ecosystems are all aspects of biological science.
Toxicology, biochemistry, biophysics, stratigraphy, and astrobiology all fall under the umbrella of biology and astronomy, respectively, yet each of these disciplines has a distinct focus. It is possible for social sciences to engage with biology in a wide range of ways, from resource management to biogeography to evolutionary psychology to ethics; here is just a sampling. The ecological component is heavily emphasised in the majority of activities in the biology department. As a result, the animal physiology division relies heavily on ecophysiological difficulties.
We're on a mission to understand more about the body's major physiological systems, their functions in various species, and the relevance of those systems in dynamic environments. Asking inquiries about the animals and plants around us helps us better understand who we are. They shed light on fundamental principles of life and death. To put it another way, marine science research focuses on the long-term use and management of biological marine resources. A substantial percentage of the research is devoted to interdisciplinary studies in marine biology, aquaculture, and technological development.
The NTNU Strategic Focus Area "Marine and Maritime Research" includes marine research and higher education conducted by the Department of Biology. Some examples of sector work include aquaculture, ecology, physiology, biosystematics, ecotoxicology and population genetics in marine settings. It is our goal to get a better understanding of the biological requirements for fish and algae production and to contribute to technological advancements based on the needs of organisms at various phases of their life cycles in aquaculture research.
Biological processes, from molecules to ecosystems, are studied at the new Multiscale Biology division that was established in 2019. In our research, we focus on plants and how their internal activities affect ecosystems.
