SPACES THROUGH LIGHT

A TROPICAL ABODE WHICH CREATES
SPACES THROUGH LIGHT..
This courtyard house is a modernist abode built on a 16 - Perch block of land bordering a private road on two sides. Carefully balanced open to sky areas and indoor garden spaces, along with the interplay of levels have created a free volume and the sense of spaciousness inside the dwelling.
One main aspect of the house is its transparency, which resulted using natural light and combination of living spaces with the environment. Undoubtedly, the architectural theme was achieved by the idea of creating well-lit spaces in a comparatively small and compact space. The brilliant rays of sun embrace each inch of the dwelling throughout the day, minimizing the need of artificial lighting. All living spaces are oriented to facilitate daylighting. This ultimately directs the house to be self-sufficient and energy efficient. The living area opens out to the center courtyard through wall openings. This promotes natural cross ventilation and the sense of volume of space. Spontaneously the courtyard brings the eye into next level of the adobe, the elevated dining area, staircase, and the void above. All together this area creates the feeling of large volume in the middle of the dwelling.
A very few earthy colors dominate in the house. White is widely used to create elegant and calm appearance. Dark goldenrod yellow is to reflect more light and make the spaces brighter. Details of every aspect of the dwelling were carefully looked in to, to achieve the ultimate goal of perfection.
