Visual identity for Kuben yrkesarena (Kuben Vocation Arena), a centre for vocational studies that opened autumn 2013 in Oslo, Norway. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Kuben yrkesarena is a new competence center for vocational studies in Oslo, Norway. Our aim was to develop a visual identity to help restore the reputation of vocational studies. Target audience is students and their parents, teachers/employees and the industry. The identity should express Kuben’s commitment to innovative teaching methods.
 

A typeface is the key element in the visual identity. It can be associated with craft and technique; playful but serious, expressing interaction. It should fit well for both studies in building & construction, design & craftsmanship and health & social care. It is tangible and flexible, technical and tactile - a system of individual elements that build recognition both alone and in combinations.

 

The visual identity was launched in June 2011, when the foundation stone for the center was laid down. It was fully implemented when the center opened autumn 2013. Signage and use of the typeface in the building itself is an important part of the implementation.
