For the final project of Onur Yazıcıgil's "Illustration as Communication" course, I redesigned the CD cover, lyrics booklet and CD sticker for one of my favorite albums: Stromae's Racine Carrée; though I only used 5 songs from the original album for technical reasons. For the front cover, I attempted to create the silhouette of a man, leaning back on the pavement, by deforming the squares which make up a checkers pattern as the visualization of the strong beats in Stromae's songs. In the left pocket of the cover, there is the lyrics leaflet which has 5 digitally manipulated sketches on one hand and the lyrics on the other. The images tell the story of a troubled man who tries to walk but stumbles before falling. As the man performs these actions, he is gradually getting captured by the squares and turns into a checkers pattern himself. In this regard, the front cover is actually the ending of the little story in the leaflet.
