During Winter Session at RISD I took the Reathinking Seating class in the Furniture Department. This project gave students the oppurtunity to explore a concept driven design based off of word association. The word that I was given was "Shell". I decided to take the word "Shell" and examine how it relates to manmade protective structures. In the two final 1/4th scale models I wanted to explore how the exterior "Shell Structures" protect the individual in a vulnerable seating position.
