Skypark. Part 4:
Selfie points

This is the 4th part of the wayfinding project for Skypark, the only high-altitude adventure park in Russia. It’s not exactly about wayfinding, but a topic strongly connected to it.
One of the tasks we had while creating the wayfinding system for Skypark, was to make people stay in the park for longer. This was how a new path was created, located right across the suspended bridge, – a walk around the relict forest. The next step was to make the route exciting and interesting, so, we created information stands, recreation zones and unique selfie points.
Selfie points are located all around the park and are all different, so it’s a great challenge for visitors to find them all. In the relict forest we placed the first selfie points – ‘Relicts’ and ‘Cuckoo’.
‘Relicts’ is a reference to the ancient animals that lived here and the history of the Colchian forest, where the park is now located. The selfie point itself is a group of ancient bears walking through the forest – mama-bear and the three cubs.
The bear shapes are flat, made of stainless steel that mirrors everything around them. The solution allowed to fit the construction into the unique natural environment without ruining it, but making the experience more valuable for visitors.
The second selfie point called ‘Cuckoo’ refers us to the modern dwellers of the forest and is constructed of flat mirror letters among the relict trees. The last letter has a tiny cuckoo icon on it.
The third selfie point called ‘Lawn’ is basically a recreation space. It is comprised of several benches shaped as flowers. These are all local flowers, like magnolias, lillies and sea flowers. It looks great on the green lawn.

We are planning to create more selfie points, so that Skypark can become even more fun for its visitors.
