PESO
a collection of object “on” our actions

PESO is a project that wants to be a message before an object.
A recycling technique that wants to be a stimulus not only for me, but for all those who will have the opportunity to be able to lend a hand to the environment. I wanted to pause on making people aware of the weight (="peso") that we are leaving to our world due to the pandemic. And like a real gym weight, each object affects not its weight but the actual masks that I used to make it.
We are used to being in contact with bottles, shampoo, detergents that have a seemingly negligible weight.
Every day we think “what’s a little bottle per day?”. But every 5 days, each of us produces 1kg of plastic, and where does it go?

But the real problem is not the plastic itself.
1.550 billion
is the number of disposable face masks we have used in ONLY one year.
In fact, we find masks everywhere and the average use of a surgical mask is about 2/3 hours,
but the material they are made of (polypropylene) is a material that takes 450 years to decompose.
Therefore the surgical mask is almost totally recyclable.
The world begins to weigh more than before with all our wrong daily actions.
I want to sensitize each of us -included myself- to try to improve through small changes (such as recycling) in order to bring the Earth back to fly free like a balloon full of air without all this unwanted weight (= PESO in italian).

Everything was achieved through an artisanal process:

Peso's objects

1. Earth
It is the principle, the center, the life. The sphere symbolizes perfection and union, everything that has no beginning or end, continuous movement, the necessary change.

2. Barbell
Barbell for everyone, young and old. Simple to use, insert as many circles as you want: small, large, long, chubby ..
Block them with a simple rubber ring and start having fun.

3. AB roller wheel
Simple to use, a handlebar to hold in your hand and slide on the ground. The two wheels allow and facilitate movement. This can make you do kilometers and kilometers of abs for the older ones and the little ones. A world that must be traveled every day.

4. Dumbbell
Geometric shapes, simple and easy to make. Loved by children even the little ones. Fun and heavy if held in the hand for a long time, but also light for having fun without worries.
5. Punching Bag
The object that most visually represents the quantity of masks we use and which can be found everywhere.
This would allow the reuse of not only surgical masks but also those that cannot leak because they have layers of tissue inside.
The complete collection (tests and final prototypes)
