ARTIFICIAL MEMORIES:
DREAMING OF A QUIET WORLD
With Artificial Memories of Ice, I seek to create a document of the elusive and vanishing nature in the high arctic that I was lucky enough to experience myself.
Glaciers and icebergs are incredibly slow titans but constantly moving, evolving and changing. Our limited sense of time makes this difficult to see, however. With AI-Animation we gain the ability to render the process of change visible and possible to experience.
These AI-Landscapes have been imagined by the IceGAN-neural network that was trained with my photographs from various endeavors to Greenland and Iceland where I captured thousands of images of glaciers and icebergs in different shapes and sizes.
Accompanied by granular sound textures that I wrote to go along with the animations.
Artificial Memories 002 and 003 were minted as NFTs on the Ethereum-blockchain and sold to collectors.

PART II: WAVES – LIQUID LUCIDITY

This is the dream of a neural network that I trained on my photographs of moving water.
Here I use artificial intelligence to create new art and so, a neural network that has never been to the sea imagines itself flying high above the waves and generates possible and impossible patterns of moving water that grow into and out of themselves in an endless loop.
These AI-seascapes have been imagined by the WaveGAN-neural network that was trained with my photographs from various endeavors to Iceland, Ireland and Madeira where I captured thousands of images of waves in different shapes and sizes.
Accompanied by granular sound textures that I wrote to go along with the animations.
