Project Intro:
This magazine spread was created for a final assignment in GIT384 - Commercial Photography. Our prompt was to shoot at least three images of a product that would then be incorporated into a two-page magazine spread.
Our Goals:

-stay consistent with the LaCroix branding style
-make our images look like they were shot outside ("outdoor" lighting)
-promote a carefree, relaxed, fun lifestyle

Our Process:

Once we knew we wanted LaCroix to be our subject, we got to sketching. We decided to go with a summer-picnic scene, incorporating ideas like an outdoor summer party into our sketches.

We gathered props that would support our vision and started shooting in the studio. One of our goals was to create an outdoor-looking scene, so our lighting had to look like it came from the sun. It took awhile to get our studio lighting right, but we ended up with a single, bright light placed high above the scene to act as the sun. We used a light diffuser to manage the reflections on the can, as well as used a cloud mat to get some sky reflection in them.

After our photoshoot, we edited the pictures so they would look more cohesive and have colors that matched. We then placed them in a way that looked pleasing and chose two of our shots to serve as heroes. We found a typeface similar to the LaCroix font and used that for our supporting text.
