“He didn't resist, he didn't react, he didn't protest. He took the train and seat with his head down, without saying a word. From then on (who tells it is a soldier of the escort) he would often look out the window, as if concerned to see something in the landscape, until he faced the saguaraji tree. At that point he set up and threw himself out the window. They caught him dead, his skull cracked, draining cauliflower from his brains near the fatal tree".

― Monteiro Lobato.
In his spare time, Monteiro Lobato painted watercolors, took photographs and played chess. He responsable for political and cultural changes in the country at the beginning of the 20th century and Lobato is attributed, for example, the National Children's Book Day, due to his date of birth, April 18 (Taubaté, SP, 1882), as the "Sítio do Picapau Amarelo" is his main work and creation and encourages the formation of readers, until today.
