My submission for the 2014 House of illustration/folio society contest. For the contest you had to make illustrations for the book Heart of darkness by Joseph Conrad. I found it a very impressive book, and I really had a good time working on this project.
But when an oppertunity offered at last to meet my predecessor, the grass growing through his ribs was tall enough to hide his bones.
I made out in the tangled gloom, naked breasts, arms, legs, glaring eye’s - the bush was swiring with human libs in movement.
And there is was, black, dried, sunken, with closed eyelids, a head that seemed to sleep at the top of that pole.
