Inspired by Jewish custom of story telling of the Jewish leaders I started my own project to recreate them in my own illustrative style.

This is my rendition of young Moses. I depicted him when he was younger because I can personally relate more to him when he runs away from Egypt. He has the weight of an entire nation resting on his shoulders, and I definitely get that (not on a national scale, but more of modest personal scale). The cape that is coming off his shoulder is divided into twelve stripes representing the twelve tribes that Moses will be responsible for when he takes them away from Egypt. And finally the three birds in the sky. I wanted something to represent the three women in his life that watched over him; Miriam, Yochevet, and Bithiah. I feel like they tend to blend into the background a lot and I wanted to give them a shout out.
