Taiho

The main objective of the project was to create a visual identity that reflects karate. The hallmark of this martial art is the belt, which we decided to use as part of the branding. The idea lies in the sequence of the belts and changing their color with increasing skills.

The master of the school and the ideological inspirer is Okabe Ai, who was born in Japan and has been practicing karate for most of his life. Over time he immigrated to Germany, where he had the idea of founding a school. After a long search for project funds, a sponsor was found who shared a love of martial arts with him. This meeting served to create the Taiho karate school.

With the support of the German Karate Union, the Taiho school began to hold its own competitions, which attract athletes from all over the country. Children, men and women demonstrate their best skills in exciting duels.

As part of this project, our team was tasked with creating a complete visual identity for the school. This includes printed materials from business cards to flyers and banners intended for competitions and school promotion. In addition to this, we adapted the branding for social media and created the website.

Using the stripes representing the belts and their colors, we tried to translate the essence and philosophy of martial art into branding. Getting a specific belt is not the primary goal in karate, but only a symbol that embodies the desire for continuous improvement of the body, mind and spirit.
