Ephemeral (Papercut Fashion Installation)

I handcrafted a fashion installation artwork entirely using pure white paper. A variety of paper craft techniques - embossing, papercutting and linocutting, was used to create this conceptual fashion design. Serving as a metaphor for the transcience of life, the work was represented in white, the original colour of the paper, to embody the meanings of purity, emptiness, rawness and vulnerability. The Japanese cherry blossom, which blooms for just 14 of 365 days a year, was chosen as the focal motif to reflect the fleeting nature of life.

Conceptualised, art directed and designed by Amanda for the A-Levels H2 Art Final Project.

Just as how this piece must perish over time, so must we, these fragile lives of fleeting moments.
