Aurangabad: The City of Gates

Aurangabad is one of the oldest cities in the state of Maharashtra, India. The city was originally known as Khadki and was founded by Malik Ambar in 1610. The city came under the Mughal rule in 1633 after the fall of Nizam Shahi Dynasty. And later it became the headquarters of Aurangzeb, and the city was renamed to Aurangabad.

Aurangand is also known as the City of Gates, as the city has 52 big gates at every entrance. Out of all the gates Bhadkal Gate is the oldest and the biggest, the gate was built by Malik Ambar in the commemoration  of his vitory against the Mughals.
City gates, Bibi ka Maqbara, Baba Shah Mosafar Dargah, Chhatrapati Shivaji Museum, History Museum, Ajanta Caves and Ellora Caves are some of the beautiful places that you can explore.
