Online Campaign against Gender-Based Violence

About
FamiLigtas PH is a campaign that aims to provide support to victim-survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) and help start their journey towards healing, amid the limitations from COVID-19.

Challenge
As a visual content creator intern, my role was to develop art cards whose messages are clear, well-researched, and sensitive to its target audiences. It must also maintain a clean minimalist look and adhere to the campaign's brand. Either vector images or photos were used.

Process
Closely follow the the message of the copy, and work with the FamiLigtas PH team for subsequent builds and revisions.
Development of the Art Cards
Women and LGBT+ in Gaming
The art card tackles our right to safe spaces, be it online or offline. Women and LGBTQIA+ individuals often experience rape jokes, sexist and homophobic slurs, and excessive stalking in online gaming which perpetrators disguise as "casual fun."
Development
Every art card begins with the brainstorming session. For this, I worked with copywriter from start to finish for deciding the target audience, overall message, and art direction. Only minor details were made
A call for passage of SOGIE Equality Bill
Familigtas PH joins in strengthening the demands to pass the SOGIE Equality Bill which seeks to provide safe spaces for LGBTQIA+ Filipinos
Development
Most of the the time, copywriters already have an idea in mind and it is my job to execute or improve it. For this, the team wanted to see if, rather than the initial idea of a jeepney, a crowd of people would look better. We settled for both - a jeepney carrying a group of people raising pride flags from the inside.
Gender-based Violence in LGBTQIA+ Relationships
This art card aims to shed light on the fact that GBV is not exclusive to heterosexual relationships. For instance, gendered violence can come in the form of forced outing. Queer victim-survivors deserve support for their experiences.
Development of the Art Card
This was inspired by Cheng Chieh Sung's beautiful illustration (found here!). The women wore primarily purple to celebrate Women's Month. Other revisions include composition edits and making the art more inclusive.
Trauma Bonding
The art card tackles the grip and manipulation the abuser has with the victim-survivor during trauma bonding.

Development
The team wanted to highlight the agency of the main subject despite the grip of the abuser, hence, the puppet master imagery was created. A pair of scissors was added to symbolize her capacity to break free.
Care Amidst the Cycle of Violence
Traumatic experiences in childhood (such as the absence of a parent) does not immediately lead to an unhappy future; rather, victim-survivors have the capacity to break away from the cycle of violence and abuse. The path towards healing can be achieved through love and support.

Development
Photos instead of vector images were most suited for the topic. Also, I was the one that initiated the idea for this art card.

The biggest change was was the headline (which affected the copy the most). After meeting with USAID and RTI International, the headline was changed to dispel the false promise that trauma does not lead to a healthier future, since there are victim-survivors who have not recovered from their traumatic experiences. Instead, the messaging should focus on reassuring the victim that they deserve support in their journey towards healing.

Sexual Entitlement to Women's Bodies
The art card deals with the distribution of private photos and videos, with particular reference to Republic Act 9995 (Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009).
Development
This went over very few revisions. This was my first output for FamiLigtas PH, and the team was satisfied with it overall :)
How to Spot an LGBT Ally
In line with Pride Month, our team created an art card outlining the characteristics of a genuine ally
Development
In celebration of Pride Month, a rainbow design was used for some words in the heading
