In 2009, while at Jaffa, we won a pitch to create a touch-screen installation and web site for the Australian War Memorial in London.
The project needed to interpret the physical War Memorial: a granite wall engraved with every town and city from where serving Australian soldiers came. The depth of the engraving varied over the wall so when standing back a distance, the names of major battles were visible.
We designed an interactive 3d globe marked with the locations of these battles. By selecting the locations on either the map or a schematic of the wall, you were taken to a more detailed map upon which we overlayed stories from the battles.
Users were able to search for the location of towns on the wall itself.
Role: Concept, Art direction, UI/UX design, AS3 and Papervsion 3d coding.
Note: This site is no longer live, please get in touch for a demo.
