This is an assignment from a Typography and Print Production course. Its objective was to understand the Devanagari typescript and use it along with the Latin/Roman script to creatively display a phrase/word.
I chose the words 'Aai Shappath' that is Marathi for 'Mother Promise' or 'I swear' in English. Being a Mumbaikar, it is a phrase I have grown up hearing and using.
'Mother Promise' is a very Indian saying that I find strange and funny.
My posters explore (1) only type and (2) a combination of type and form. The way they are composed is a reflection of how one says this phrase and it visually represents the meaning of it.
