URBAN SOUND AWARENESS AND REPRESENTATIONS
2019 | Workshop Series
Tutor
The workshop series are created by me and two colleagues; an sound engineer architect, a sonic artist architect. Our aim is to provide students a different perspective. Pallasmaa’s classic text, “The Eyes of the Skin” is one of the suggested readings and we give general information about different sound concepts including , acoustic ecology, physics of sound, acoustic, sound maps and graphic notations then we encouraged to develop design phases through listening.
1. ÖzU/+10 Istanbul İnsitute of Design: “The workshop aims to redefine environment on sonic aspects. Students learned to listen, analyze, and make distinctions during their summer research internship. Topics such as ‘landmark’, ‘landscape, ‘soundmark’, ’soundscape’ were discussed through “soundwalks” in Karaköy district. The audiotory sense was streghtened as a parameter of the design process.
2. MEF University FADA Workshop Week 2019: “Collages where visual expression of various sonic characteristics are processed. The sound sights of the places in the school were created by examining the routes.”
