GROUNDED URBAN PRACTICES

GROUNDED URBAN PRACTICES
Publication | 2019
Client: The City

Grounded Urban Practices (GUPs) is a project jointly developed by CLUSTER and Non-fiction that focuses on alternative initiatives that work in public spaces in response to economic and political shifts. The emergence of these practices marks a significant shift towards spatial activism, where the space is seen as a powerful tool for creating social and environmental change.

The publication, which serves as an invitation to other like-minded individuals working in grounded urban practices, was created for the Mombasa edition of African Crossroads. As part of the design process, we drew inspiration from the public spaces in Tunis and showcased GUPs' work by creating illustrations for the front and back covers. The illustrations not only highlight the work of GUPs but also connect with the Tunis meetup, making the publication a solid representation of the project's vision and purpose.
