For my Illustration class we were told to create a how-to project. I created a 2'x4' poster describing the different aspects of kendama. The first section is a schematic explaining that a kendama is a wooden ball in a cup type toy. The second section explains shows the diversity of the toy, while the third shows a more in depth look at this diversity through step by step instructions.
I wanted the poster to appeal to people who had never heard of kendama as well as seasoned players. I sought to make all the illustrations uniform, but still unique and also find a variety of ways to express motion in simplified graphics.
This piece was awarded "Best of Sophomore Year" in the 2013 Cornish College of the Arts 123 Design Show.
